Hey,
Is it fall weather were you are? Here in southeast PA, one day it’s summer the next day is fall. I really hate to see summer go but I’m ready to rock some of my fall makes.
One of those being the Poppy Top from Ellie and Mac.
I have been wanting to sew this up for a while now. And when I saw a sweater bundle from Sincerely Riley I knew the black and leopard had to be a Poppy. The black is a sweater knit and the leopard a rib knit.
The back button down detail of this top is my favorite, even though I hate sewing buttonholes. I also love these buttons that I picked up from Joanns.
Now, I knew I was going to have issues with the length because of my short undefined waist.
So I did make a few adjustments.
- Took 1 inch from the bodice (probably could have taken more out)
- Used 4 buttons instead of 5 (shorten the length of the bodice)
- Added 1 inch to sleeves
I made an XL, the top was loose fitting on me however on the testers it was more fitted. I’m not sure if I needed to adjust the size some more or if it was the fabric I used. Either way it makes a comfortable sweater with a cute back button detail.
I hope I get around to making this one again.
Happy Creating!
