Grab A Hug Pillow (FREE PATTERN)

My oldest daughter loves making pillows, and she had a wonderful idea to make a heart-shaped pillow for snuggling. What perfect timing for Valentine’s Day!

The Grab A Hug Pillow comes in 3 sizes small, medium, and large with a pocket option for treats.

Let’s get started!

Supplies:

Grab A Hug Pattern (It’s Free)

Fabric – We love fleece and faux fur, flannel, and quilter’s cotton will also work. You can get all 3 sizes with one yard of fabric.

Poly-Fil

Sewing machine and thread – of course.

If you are not making a pillow with the pocket, jump to the 6th picture.

No Pocket Option

With right sides together sew around heart with 1/4″ seam allowance, leaving an opening between notches.
Trim and/or clip seam allowances, curves and point of the heart.
Turn heart right side out and press.
Stuff with Poly-Fil
Use your preferred method to close the seam of the pillow. The invisible ladder stitch is my fav. Mindy Makes has a great tutorial on this method here.

Pocket Option

Sew pocket pieces right sides together with 1/4″ seam allowance, leaving an opening between the notches.
Trim and or clip the curves and the point of the heart.
Turn the heart right sides out and press.
Place pocket on the right side of one of the bigger hearts and pin.
Topstitch the pocket on about 1/8″ from the edge, leaving an opening at the top of the heart.
Place the other heart right sides together with the last piece. Sew around with 1/4″ seam allowance, leaving opening between notches. Trim and/or clip seam allowances.
Turn the pillow right side out and stuff with poly-fil.

That was a fast sew! You can crank out a bunch of these in no time. Make a couple for yourself, give away as Valentine’s gifts stuffed with candy or to someone who just may need a hug. They will be loved.

Until next time, Happy Creating!
