Hey,
I’ve been a little busy with pattern testing and life but I was able to squeeze in a mommy and me outfit.
I had just over a yard of leopard print fabric left from my leopard cardi. I always wanted some leopard leggings, so of course I used Pattern for Pirates(P4P) Peg Legs, I did a review here. I had just enough scraps to make neck and waistbands for my daughter’s. I purchased P4P Favorite Tee awhile ago and thought this would be good for the them, using some leftover black double brushed polyester from Sly Fox Fabrics for the base of the shirt.
The Favorite Tee comes in women’s and children’s sizes. What drew me to this pattern was the tied band, that’s the option I made for my girl’s (making sizes 3 and 6). It was easy to sew, up until it got to sewing on the shirt band. I couldn’t wrap my head around the halfing and quarting off the bottom hem but I did figure it out…I blame it on mommy brain.
The shirt fit more like a tunic in length. If it was sitting on the hips like shown on the testers, it pooled and was baggy on both of my daughter’s. You couldn’t really see the tie if it sat on the hips, so I just pulled it down over the hips. I did want to make the tied shirt for me in the future but I’m a little scared it won’t look right. I don’t need any extra bagginess around my stomach. There are more basic options, that I do want to try for myself. Now P4P has a new tee and they are very similar just a little more fitted. I really like the tee dress option on the Basic Tee.
My daughter’s are so into cats right now (especially the little one), they really loved this shirt. The plan was to put a silhouette of a cat on them, between my cricut and me being tired I settled on 3 hearts using heat n bond. I think it turned out pretty nicely.
Happy Creating!
