I got around to making mommy daughter dresses.
I’m so pleased how they turned out and how everything came together.
I didn’t want the dresses to to be exactly the same, just use the same fabric. I got my fabric from Joanns fabric in the juvenile section when it was on sale for $5 yard! It’s a polyester knit.
I came across a free pattern from LBG STUDIO for the girls. I wanted something causal and comfy that they could play in because my girls are very active. A no fuss dress. I could also see these dresses as nightgowns.
I made the two styles that was in the tutorial and added pockets to both. I made my 4 year olds dress bodice bigger and had to take in my 2 year olds bodice. I also took 2 inches off the bottom of my 2 year olds dress.
I paired them with clear glitter jelly Mary Jane sandals from Walmart .
My dress is made from a pattern from Made for Mermaids. They do have a matching pattern for babies and girls. I loved everything about it. I made the natural waist maxi with back view A. I drafted and added my own pockets right into the side seam. I love pockets and who doesn’t need pockets?!
I paired my dress with clear/jelly sandals from Forever 21.
We wore our outfits on our family vacation to Rohobeth beach. They were comfortable and cool for a night on the board walk where they played arcade games and rode rides at the amusement park.
These dresses will transition well into early fall with a jean jacket or a chunky cardigan.
I can’t wait to get started on our next mommy and me ensemble.
