Heyyy,
Valentine’s day is coming up and this tulip dress is perfect for the occasion, especially when paired with stretch velvet.
I bought the fabric awhile ago from Joanns. The fabric screamed dress. I wasn’t sure which dress pattern I was going to use, then here comes Ellie and Mac’s Wacky Wednesday sale. The Tulip Dress was on sale for $1! I loved the ruching and body hugging fit. It comes in 2 lengths; tunic and dress, I plan on making both. There are 3 sleeve options; short, 3/4, and long.
This wasn’t a fast sew as it has ruching (gathers) on both sides of the front of the dress, but didn’t take long after getting past that part. Also for me I had to take it in ALOT! I have no hips. Next time I will have to get over my fear and do a FBA. It was tight in the chest and smushed me a little bit.
I did add 6 1/2″ to the length and I think it made the ruching alittle weird, it kinda of hangs instead of being tight and flat. I also added 1 1/2″ to the sleeves (long arms).
I didn’t hem with stitching but with fusible hem tape which made a world of difference.
Overall I love it and so does my husband. What are you wearing for Valentine’s Day 😉?
Until Next Time, Happy Creating!
